Therapy with Auricular Acupuncture
Dr. Sarri Tzikitzela Irene, Anesthesiologist
What is the Auricular Acupuncture?
The Auricular Acupuncture is a medical method that uses the ear flap for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. It is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, part of which is the Acupuncture and modern neurophysiological principles. It is based on the assumption that there is a representation of the structures and functions of the whole body (ear map) in the ear flap.
How does it work?
By activating neural and biochemical mechanisms (neurotransmitters, endorphins, hormones) to balance the altered functions of the organism which underlie the disease.
The aural diagnosis involves the discovery and studying of the activated points in the ear flap by:
Overview, Palpation and Electrical Detection. The activation of the signs occurs in acute or chronic pathologies, but even in functional disorders. In classical needle therapy, Electrical Percutaneous Irritation, Aural Massage and Continuous Irritation were added to the time spent with needles, metal or other microsphere materials. The methods, absolutely painless and non-invasive, are applied to children and adults who do not want to use needles.
The Auricular Acupuncture is not just a symptomatic treatment. It is not limited to eliminate the symptom but precisely, because it affects the altered mechanisms of the organism, it determines a therapeutic effect. It also activates the body's natural mechanisms of self-healing.
